A1GP pays tribute to apartheid victim

The A1GP drivers paid their respects to one of the most iconic victims of South Africa's anti-apartheid struggle during a publicity tour prior to this weekend's Kyalami races.All the drivers competing at Kyalami placed a white rose on the Hector Peterson Memorial in Soweto, which was erected as a tribute to 12-year-old Peterson, who was the first person killed when police opened fire on a student demonstration during the Soweto Uprising in June 1976.The tour of Soweto also featured a visit to the Apartheid Museum and Nelson Mandela Exhibition, a look at progress on the construction of the Soccer City Stadium in preparation for the 2010 World Cup, and a trip to a school for children with special educational needs."It's very interesting for everyone today - especially the experience with the kids; they all looked pretty happy about us being there and it was exciting to see all the games they play here," said Team South Africa driver Adrian Zaugg."It's also been something special for me. I have never spent much time in Johannesburg so some of the sites were new to me."
