The hardcore F1 junkies got a massive hit of the good stuff this week when finally we saw the first cars on the track in Valencia.

Some brand new liveries, some new teams, some new set-ups, all went into making the first of the 2010 testing very interesting.

The test finished with Bernando heading the table with what looked like a return to class from the Italian team in its brand spanking new F10.

From the looks of it he's already creating a few sweaty collars around the paddock. Take a look at the F10 here:

The biggest surprise has come from Pedro de la Rossa in the new BMW Sauber C29. He finished up just 0.6 seconds off the two-time world champion and has stayed second to the fellow Spaniard in each of the three test days.

Always great to see a team stake an early claim, and rattle a few paddock cages.

Are we seeing an impostor 2009 Brawn team in the making?

Michael Schumacher showed he's still got it, ending the third day in third place. His waxworks team-mate Rosberg hasn't come up with a huge amount. I'm looking for fairly big things this season from Nico.

It's either going to be an opportunity that he will grab with both hands, or he may be in for a Kovy 08/09 season copy.

Rock and a hard place spring to mind with a challenging car in one hand, and a seven-time world champion team-mate in the other.

Still, could be his time to shine. Saying that, I can't help but report that Rubens had another boo this week. It was in the form of a stark warning to 'Wax Boy' to get the hell out of there if he values his career.

Ruby, you're a highly respected, much liked senior member of the grid, but for the love of God, stop the outbursts.

It was 100 years ago that you got rolled over at Ferrari. Move on. He also mentioned that he is aiming for the title this season. Sorry Ruby, your team-mate, 'the Incredible Hulkenberg' was better this week, and he's new.

Torro Rosso also had a blinder with a fourth-place finish. That came from another surprising effort from Alguersuari, who says his current run of form is due to better fitness. What ev's mate, Buemi's car was broken.

Jenson Button completed the top five in the MP4-25 for Mclaren Hamilton. The only thing to report there is that he was faster than Lewis Hamilton.

All in all Jerez confirmed what we've all been hoping - F1 2010 is going to be the stuff that dreams are made of. Even though it's early days, and who knows what fuel loads they've been running this week, this season looks more and more like it could be anyone’s.
