Hollamby withdraws from Silverstone

Date published : 22 Aug 2010 - 09:49:37

Shaun Hollamby has withdrawn from the Silverstone British Touring Car Championship races after his AmD Milltek Volkswagen suffered engine problems in qualifying.A broken alternator belt became entangled with the timing belt during qualifying, causing damage to the powerplant that could not be repaired on-site."It's a shame, but we just can't repair the car here because we don't have the necessary spares," said Hollamby."We'll regroup and be back for Knockhill. I think the Golf will be much more suited to the characteristics of that circuit."While Hollamby will not race, BMW driver Martin Depper will be on the grid after the Forster Motorsport squad repaired the car he crashed heavily in practice.
