Jordan pips Plato in Rockingham test

Andrew Jordan beat Jason Plato to the fastest time in British Touring Car Championship testing at Rockingham on Tuesday.Pirtek Vauxhall driver Jordan's session-topping 1m23.886s lap from the morning stood as the fastest of the day, although afternoon pacesetter Plato (Chevrolet) was a scant 0.001 seconds slower when he went quickest later on.James Nash was third in the Triple Eight Vauxhall, as the team also gave 18-year-old Daniel Lloyd a run. The former Ginetta and Renault Clio racer, who currently competes in the Skip Barber series in the USA, was an impressive seventh fastest, only 0.375s off the pace. Triple Eight has yet to announce whether Lloyd will contest any races for the squad.Double BTCC champion James Thompson also participated in the test, completing 19 laps in Gordon Shedden's Honda as he helped the team with set-up work. Thompson does not currently have a drive for 2010.Current championship leader Matt Neal was fourth for Honda, ahead of Plato's team-mate Alex MacDowall and Tom Chilton in the Arena Ford.The BTCC resumes at Oulton Park on the first weekend of June.Pos Driver Car Time Gap 1.
