Andrew Jordan has given the British Touring Car Championship's new TOCA-branded turbo engine its maiden runs.Jordan, who will use the powerplant in his Eurotech Racing-run Vauxhall Vectra this season, drove the car in damp conditions at both Snetterton and Rockingham this week. The former Vauxhall works man took over driving duties after his father (and Eurotech team boss) Mike Jordan had completed initial straight line shakedowns of the car.He said he was happy with his initial impressions of the unit at both circuits."The engine adds a bit more weight over the front axle so we were working on reducing tyre wear on the front wheels over a long run and just getting the most out of the car," Jordan said."You can really feel the torque of the engine, especially out of the slow corners, so at tracks like Knockhill it should work really well. We are all very focused on getting the best out of the package and the team is working very closely with [engine builder] Swindon Engines, who have been with us all week tracking our progress."Eurotech plans to continue its test programme next week.
