Nash to miss BTCC finale

Date published : 23 Sep 2009 - 13:31:26

James Nash will miss the final round of the British Touring Car Championship for budgetary reasons. The 23-year-old driver joined the RML Chevrolet squad at the Oulton Park round in May, and achieved his first podium finish at Silverstone as part of a one-two-three finish for the team. However, he has decided to turn his attention to finding a budget for 2010 so that he can return to the BTCC."In just five events I am really pleased with my results and progress through the year and I have learnt a huge amount and progressed as a driver," said Nash, who lies 15th in the championship standings."I entered the championship this year with the hope of showcasing my skills to attract potential sponsors, and I hope my results over the past few months have proved that I am a serious racing driver and a strong contender for race wins."RML team manager Paul Field said Nash, whose only previous tin-top experience came in the SEAT Leon Copa Espana, had made a great start to his BTCC career."I think what has impressed me most this year is how quickly he has adapted," Field said. "It takes time to jump in a brand new car, with a new team and be competitive, but James kept working at it, and remained 100 per cent focused and realistic."He's achieved a tremendous amount this year and certainly has a very bright future in touring cars."
