Onslow-Cole keen to maintain form

Tom Onslow-Cole is looking at maintaining his charge up the rankings in the British Touring Car Championship ahead of the fifth round at Croft in North Yorkshire.

Onslow-Cole was the biggest points scorer last time out at Oulton Park in Cheshire to lie fourth in the standings behind Matt Neal, Jason Plato and Steven Kane.

The 23-year-old said: "I have got to start thinking about the points situation now. I want to win all the time, of course, but the most important thing is to score big points in every race to keep the pressure on."

He added: "It is an exciting time and we are going to one of the tracks I enjoy the most. I simply can't wait."

Onslow-Cole lies 22 points behind Neal who has 98, with Plato second on 90 and Kane third on 82 but his chances will be hampered by the fact he is carrying 18 kilos of success ballast after doing so well at Oulton Park.

However, Onslow-Cole is confident his car can cope with the extra weight.

He said: "We carried success ballast at Oulton Park and the car coped well with it - we almost won the second race there with 45 kilos on board.

"It will be tough in qualifying at Croft to get the ultimate pace because of the ballast but the races are a different matter."

He remains confident of success at Croft, a circuit he likes to race on.

Onslow-Cole, from New Malden in Surrey, added: "I always love fast tracks where you really have to get stuck in to produce a quick lap time, and that's what Croft is. It has some really fast sections and some slower bits but it seems to flow together really well. I love the place because it is one of those circuits where a brave driver can make the difference."
