Onslow-Cole secured pole

Date published : 05 Jun 2010 - 18:18:59

Tom Onslow-Cole claimed his first British Touring Car Championship pole position for two years by coming out on top in a thrilling four-way battle for supremacy at Oulton Park.

The Team Aon Ford driver posted a best lap of one minute 27.330 seconds around the Cheshire circuit to edge Gordon Shedden (Honda Racing Team) by just two hundredths of a second.

Less than a tenth of a second covered the top four, which was rounded out by Silverline Chevrolet duo Jason Plato and Alex MacDowall.

Third place for Plato was a strong result, with Matt Neal, with whom he shares the lead of the drivers' championship after three rounds, down in seventh.

Onslow-Cole's team-mate Tom Chilton will line up fifth on the grid, with WSR's Rob Collard the best of the BMWs in sixth.
