Chris Swanwick is set to make his British Touring Car Championship debut later this year after joining Rob Austin Racing as the team's junior driver.
Swanwick, 17, tested the team's NGTC-spec Audi A4 at Pembrey earlier this week and impressed team principal Rob Austin, who would like to see him do "one or two races" this season in addition to more testing.
"We were delighted with Chris's performance at Pembrey," Austin said. "He showed remarkable maturity and speed in the car and he got faster and faster all day. He will be a force to be reckoned with when he races in the BTCC."
Swanwick, who currently lies 11th in the Renault Clio UK Cup and has previously raced in Ginetta Juniors, added: "The Pembrey test was fantastic. I loved every second of being in that car and can't wait for my next outing.
"The plan is to use the balance of this year to get familiar with the team and car in order to be a step ahead for a full campaign in 2012."
