Viewing figures up by a third

The number of people watching the British Touring Car Championship on television has gone up by a third, according to ITV.Viewers are up by 34.6 per cent for the first three rounds this year, compared to the 2010 average.Official figures from the Broadcasters Audience Research Board show Brands Hatch's opening event of 2011 attracted 21 per cent more viewers than the Kent circuit's corresponding round from the previous season. Donington Park's ITV audience was then 27 per cent greater, while the increase for the last round at Thruxton was 56 per cent.All 10 BTCC race events in 2011 receive live TV coverage on free-to-air channels ITV4 and ITV4 HD. The next round is at Oulton Park on June 4-5.
