Lewis Hamilton is now the most successful British driver in terms of grand prix wins, pole positions and podiums - but does that make him the best Formula One racer to hail from Great Britain?

While the debate is always subjective, DSG has compiled a list of Britain's best, based on an aggregate of victories, poles and podium finishes, comparable to the number of races they started.

To qualify, a driver must have won at least one Formula One world championship and/or five grands prix. In total there were 14 who met the criteria.

While reigning world champion Hamilton's average aggregate of 34.2 per cent places him second on the list, the top honour - with 41.6 per cent - goes to two-time world champion Jim Clark.
