Chinese Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton disappointed not to have secured pole

The McLaren driver had looked quick all weekend and dominated Q1 and Q2 today but struggled for pace in the last segment as he finished half-a-second slower than pole-winner Sebastian Vettel.
Lewis Hamilton lines up sixth on the grid tomorrow and though that is a marked improvement on his last two qualifying sessions, he was still disappointed with the end result.
"I don't really know what to say," he said. "We had done such a good job and were quickest in Q1 and Q2 but in Q3 the car just didn't feel fantastic.
"Of course I am disappointed as we wanted to get pole and we should have had it and I don't know where it went.
"It is just one of those days and there is nothing you can do about it."
Meanwhile, Jenson Button secured fifth place on the grid for tomorrow to out-qualify Hamilton for the third time this season.
But the reigning world champion lamented issues with his tyres throughout the session which he felt prevented him from claiming a place higher up the grid.
"I couldn't get a whole lap with the tyres. They were either not warm enough at the start of the lap or they were overheating at the end," said Button.
"I was really struggling with it. In Q3 it was much better but it was a little bit too late really because the car felt very different.
"It was a bit frustrating that it took us that long in qualifying to get the balance right but, considering, P5 is okay.
"We will make up for it tomorrow."
