Heidfeld considering his options
Nick Heidfeld has said he is in discussions with teams other than BMW Sauber regarding a drive for next season.
The German signed a one-year contract extension with the Swiss-German team last autumn, although the combination has so far failed to shine this season.
Although Heidfeld finished second in the rain-shortened Malaysian Grand Prix, he currently stands down in 12th in the drivers' standings - albeit ahead of team-mate Robert Kubica.
"I am talking with several teams - not just BMW," Heidfeld told Eurosport.
The 32-year-old also insisted his ambition remains undimmed, despite failing to register a race victory in almost a decade in Formula One.
"I still want to be world champion," explained Heidfeld, "even if it only happens when I am 40.
"If you look at the past few years, drivers are staying until they are 38, 39, so I have a few years still in front of me," he added.
