A home driver on pole is always going to be popular at any grand prix, and that was by and large the case as Lewis Hamilton secured another P1 at Silverstone.
Hamilton posted a time of one minute 32.248 seconds to beat Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to top spot, with Felipe Massa (Williams) third.
If there was ever any doubt about it, we got further statistical proof that Hamilton is a very good driver.
Well, he’s good at qualifying anyway. He’s got a few race wins under his belt too, mind.
But Hamilton remains an oddly divisive figure among British F1 fans…
While to others, another Hamilton pole was just symptomatic of a dull F1 season.
Others are hoping a spanner is thrown in the works.
One driver who remains popular with British fans though is Jenson Button. There was a lot of sympathy flying around after he and team-mate Fernando Alonso failed to make it past Q1 in their misfiring McLarens.
Better throw your weight behind Hamilton then…
