Date published : 23 Jan 2010 - 11:59:59

US F1 will name Jose Maria Lopez as its first driver on Monday, according to the 26-year-old Argentinian's representatives.Lopez has long been linked with Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson's US F1 project, and announced last November that he just had to find a few more sponsors to order to make his drive official. Now his spokesman Miguel Mattos has revealed that US F1 is on the brink of confirming Lopez's first Formula 1 race seat."Everything has been agreed and the official announcement will be made on Monday," Mattos told Reuters.Lopez is an ex-Renault F1 test driver and GP2 racer, but he has raced saloons and sportscars in Argentina - winning two titles in the country's premier TC2000 series - since his European single-seater career fizzled out at the end of 2006.
