Three-time Le Mans winner Andre Lotterer will drive for Caterham at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, replacing Japan's Kamui Kobayashi, the team announced on Wednesday.

Germany's Lotterer, 32, is "one of the most experienced drivers racing under mixed conditions", Caterham said, and the weather forecast for the Spa-Francorchamps circuit at the weekend is changeable.

Kobayashi will still remain part of the team.

Born in Duisburg, Lotterer moved to Belgium when he was only two and grew up around 150km from Spa-Francorchamps.

"I am delighted to be given the opportunity to take part in a Formula One race weekend - I want to thank Caterham F1 Team for this chance," Lotterer said.

"I'm ready for this challenge and I cannot wait to jump in the car and make the most out of the weekend ahead."
