Kris Meeke will take a healthy lead into the penultimate day of the Rally Argentina after winning three of Friday's five stages.

Northern Irishman Meeke won the day's first, third and fourth stages to secure an overall lead of one minute 8.4 seconds ahead of Citroen team-mate Mads Ostberg.

Jari-Matti Latvala had to settle for third place overall after he encountered gearbox problems on the final stage of the day.

Hyundai's Dani Sordo sits fourth, some 1min 54.2secs off the lead, while Welsh driver Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) rounds off the top five some 5.5secs further back.

Reigning World Rally champion and overnight leader Sebastien Ogier had a day to forget as he was forced to retire after encountering a fuel flow problem in the day's opening stage.

The Frenchman was not the only driver to bow out on Friday, with his Volkswagen team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen joining him on the sidelines.
