Mexican Grand Prix Statfile

Following the United States Grand Prix, Formula One makes the journey south to Mexico.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at the key statistics and trivia heading into the 19th round of the season.

* Nico Rosberg, who leads Lewis Hamilton by 26 points, can clinch the world championship this weekend if he wins on Sunday, and his Mercedes team-mate finishes 10th or lower.

* Rosberg is bidding to become only the second father-son pairing to win the world title. Damon Hill followed in his father's footsteps Graham, a two-time champion, when he beat Jacques Villeneuve to the title in 1996.

* Rosberg won in Mexico last year to claim his 12th career win. Should he do so again on Sunday, he will take his overall tally to 24.

* Despite the championship deficit, Hamilton has vowed not to give up the chase, and his win in Austin on Sunday was the 50th of his career. Only Michael Schumacher and Alain Prost have reached that milestone.

* And while Schumacher's record of 91 victories may be a long way off, Hamilton can match Prost, the French four-time champion, with 51 wins on Sunday.

* Hamilton also emulated his great hero Ayrton Senna in Austin following his 29th career win from pole position.

* The Briton has now also won five times in America, and four of the last five to be staged at Circuit of the Americas. Sebastian Vettel is the only other driver to have won there.

* Daniel Ricciardo finished third last Sunday to secure his seventh podium finish. He needs just one more to beat his own record of eight which he posted in 2014.

* Vettel, the four-time champion, is now without a podium in four races. Indeed he has finished in the top three just once in the last 10 grands prix, which is his worst run of form since his debut campaign for Toro Rosso in 2008.

* The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is the highest altitude venue on the calendar, located 2,229 metres above sea level.

* Meanwhile, Bernie Ecclestone, Formula One's CEO, celebrates his 86th birthday on Friday.
