Pole man Vettel pleased to get revenge

Sebastian Vettel admitted he was pleased to exact some home race revenge on team-mate Mark Webber after beating the Australian to pole at Albert Park. The Red Bull duo turned the battle for the top position on the grid into an engaging private duel in Melbourne, as the RB6 once again proved a cut above the rest on single-lap pace.Vettel ultimately shaded it by just over a tenth of a second following a sensational ultra-committed lap in which he managed to stay on course despite a big oversteering moment into the fast right-handed turn 14. Afterwards, Vettel joked that he was pleased to get his team-mate back after Webber denied him pole at his home German round last year although he acknowledged he had only struck the first blow.Obviously, first of all it's a great result for both of us, for the team, he said. Mark's home race it's a little bit funny you know remembering last year, he set the pole in Germany so [this is] kind of revenge! But it's a long race tomorrow. With the threat of light rain showers hanging over the start of Q3, Vettel says he was delighted with how his eventual pole lap was going until the final series of corners suggesting he could have gone even quicker than his 1m23.919s time.Coming back to qualifying, I think we did a good step into qualifying again with the car, improving it, and the final session it was all about does it start to rain or not he said.Everyone went out, we waited a little bit, and the first lap [was] obviously the quickest as well, but the first lap was spot on everywhere until I reached the last three corners.I would say turn 14, the fast right-hander, was still on the edge and okay but after that I think I lost a little bit especially on the last corner onto the main straight, but it was a very, very good lap up until that point.I was very happy and I think the result says it all.Given Albert Park's tendency to throw up unpredictable races, Vettel added that starting at the front was the ideal position to be.[I'm] looking forward to tomorrow, he said. It's quite good to start in the front, we don't know how messy it might get tomorrow safety car, no safety car so there is always a lot happening at Albert Park, but it's good to be on pole, the clean side [of the grid] as well, so I'm happy.
