Practice 1: Rosberg strikes late
Nico Rosberg claimed his now customary position at the head of a practice timesheet as the Turkish Grand Prix weekend got underway on Friday morning.
The Williams driver saved his best lap of 1m28.952s until the dying seconds of the session to knock McLaren s Lewis Hamilton from the head of the order by 0.3s to notch up his 10th timesheet-topping result of the season.
For most of the session it had been world champion Hamilton who had led the way, a slightly surprisingly strong start given McLaren expects its MP4-24 to suit the sweeping Istanbul Park far less than the slow streets of Monte Carlo.Hamilton ended the session just 0.008s clear of Jarno Trulli as Toyota madea fine startto its attemptsat banishing the memories of its miserable Monaco weekend.
Sebastian Vettel was also close behind in fourth for Red Bull, while Istanbul master Felipe Massa completed a solid morning for Ferrari in fifth.
The second Williams of Kazuki Nakajima wound up sixth, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen s Ferrari, while Brawn duo Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button ended a low-key session ninth and 11th respectively.Full reportto follow TurkishGrand Prix free practice sessionone
