Date published : 05 Jan 2010 - 13:31:38

Renault wants its second driver to be able to challenge Robert Kubica and score regularly throughout 2010 - as new team principal Eric Boullier promises no favours for the youngsters he looks after.Boullier is CEO of the Gravity Sport Management company that Renault co-owner Gerard Lopez is involved with - and speculation has linked two of its more well-known drivers, Ho-Pin Tung and Jerome D'Ambrosio, with the vacant seat alongside Kubica. However, with Nick Heidfeld now back on the market following the ending of his chances with Mercedes GP, Renault has plenty of other options to consider.Speaking about the driver situation for 2010, Boullier said that the priority was for a racer who would bring performance and said that those men he had worked with previously would get no special favours."The second driver will have to be able to score points and challenge Robert Kubica," he said. "So in fact, it might be a Gravity driver or not, but I can guarantee that it will be even more difficult for a Gravity driver to be selected as they really will have to prove their worth to be chosen as Renault's second driver."
