Mark Webber believes Michael Schumacher will not be able to reassert his previous dominance of Formula 1 during the second phase of his career, which begins in Bahrain this weekend when he launches his eagerly awaited comeback. The legendary German won five consecutive world titles during his glory days with Ferrari from 2000 to 2004, achieving a level of superiority not seen since the heydays of Juan Manuel Fangio and Jim Clark in the 1950s and 1960s respectively.Schumacher returns as a 41-year-old with a Mercedes GP team that is the reigning champion squad but is expected to face stern competition from McLaren, Ferrari and Webber's Red Bull Racing team.Speaking in the Sakhir paddock on Thursday, Webber applauded Schumacher's ballsy decision to put his reputation on the line by relaunching his F1 career. It's great for the sport, absolutely fantastic, said the Australian. He's a real edgy character, he's done amazing things in his first career and he's coming back for a second career because he's a competitive individual.I take my hat off to him: It's a big balls decision to come back and have a go, and as a competitor you have to admire that.Nonetheless Webber does not fear a repeat of the Schumacher routs that F1 grew so accustomed to in the early years of this century. We're not going to have the 60-70 second victory margins that we had in the past, he predicted. It's not going to happen, don't worry! He'll win some races, and he may even win a title if he stays for three years, but it's not going to be as straightforward as it was in the past.Schumacher said recently that he feels like a child looking forward to Christmas ahead of his grand prix return.
