Toro Rosso investigating Buemi accident

Scuderia Toro Rosso will wait until it has conducted a thorough examination into the cause of Sebastian Buemi's accident before deciding its next course of action at the Chinese Grand Prix. Both front wheels flew off Buemi's car under braking for the Turn 14 hairpin near the end of the first practice session, with initial video footage suggesting that the incident was caused by some sort of front suspension failure. The team was not sure about the exact cause of the incident however, and technical chief Giorgio Ascanelli was awaiting the return of the STR4 to the team's garage before drawing any firm conclusions.Buemi's team-mate Jaime Alguersuari was not allowed out in the final minutes of the session, and a decision about what the team will do for the second free practice will be made once the team is sure about what Buemi's problem was.One of the contributing factors to the incident may have been the extreme bumps on the track, which have been affecting cars heading into the braking zone for both Turn 1 and the Turn 14 hairpin. Parts were seen flying off Jarno Trulli's Lotus over the bumps and Virgin Racing suffered a front-wing problem on Timo Glock's car.Buemi was unharmed in his incident but made a precautionary trip to the medical centre for a check-up before returning to the team garage during Friday's lunchtime break.
