Virgin to conclude shakedown
Virgin Racing will complete a two-day shakedown of their car ahead of their full track debut next week.
The VR-01 unveiled on Wednesday completed a few exploratory laps of the Stowe circuit at Silverstone on Thursday, with 27-year-old German Timo Glock at the wheel.
The team's technical director Nick Wirth said: "After 10 challenging months, all the commitment and determination has finally paid off. Thursday was all about those tentative first few steps, but the programme really gets under way on Friday with a full day of on-track evaluation for both Timo and Lucas (di Grassi)."
Glock, who missed the final three grands prix of last year through injury following a crash in qualifying ahead of the race in Japan, was naturally delighted to be back behind the wheel.
"It was a fantastic moment for myself and the whole team to see the VR-01 come alive. It's great to be back in a racing car," remarked Glock.
