Formula Two news Briton Tappy to join test 09 December 2009Britain's Duncan Tappy will be taking part in the 2-day test session in Portugal at the end of the week. Being staged at the Portimao circuit on Friday and Saturday, the 25-year-old is hoping to set sufficient pace to attract a drive ahead of next year.
Having won the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch in 2005 after confirming the runner-up spot in that season's Formula Ford UK campaign, Tappy wore the Formula Renault UK crown of 2007 after fending off Dean Smith - winner of the 2009 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award - who will also be present in Portugal."It is certainly one of the options for 2010, particularly after F2 was such a success in its first year," commented Surrey's Tappy, who has also raced in the Le Mans Series and scored podium results in Superleague Formula for Tottenham Hotspur. "I would have considered entering in 2009 but things didn't work out."
Tappy has represented Great Britain in A1GPDuncan also considers the affects to his bank balance, with the low-cost F2 not having been reintroduced until this year. "F2 wasn't around after I won the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship and raising the budget for some of the other championships was extremely difficult, particularly as I am from a normal background," he admitted."As I say, I am now looking at the potential of running in Formula Two next season and this week is a great opportunity to test the car and learn more about the championship."
