GPUpdateClarke heads opening F2 practice15 April 2011 Britain's Jack Clarke has topped the timesheets in the first Formula 2 practice session of 2011. At Silverstone on Friday afternoon, his best effort of 1:51.629 edged out Spaniard Ramón Piñeiro by exactly one tenth of a second as Mirko Bortolotti completed the top three for Italy.
As other Britons Alex Brundle, Will Bratt, Tom Gladdis and James Cole recorded respective sixth, seventh, 11th and 15th places, Mihai Marinescu of Romania made the top five ahead of Miki Monras - the second Spanish representative. It's the perfect way to start my season,? said pace-setter Clarke. I managed to put in a solid lap before my tyres began to fade but I know I still have much to give. There's added pressure competing on my home circuit but I like to think I cope well under pressure.? The second practice session begins at 2:55pm local time (BST)
