Stoneman: I’m only focussed on winning the title...

GPUpdate Stoneman: I'm only focussed on winning the title 2 September 2010Starting with Rounds 15 and 16 at Germany's Oschersleben circuit this weekend, there are just four races remaining in the 2010 Formula 2 championship in which Englishmen Jolyon Palmer and Dean Stoneman are hotly contesting the title. With 19-year-old Palmer son of ex Formula 1 racer Jonathan currently leading the way with 221 points, 20-year-old Stoneman lies just four in arrears after the former won the last race at Brno and snatched back the championship lead in the process. I'm guaranteed second, so I'm just going to do anything and everything that I can to finish in front of Jolyon and win the championship, said Dean, who is a more than comfortable 95 points ahead of the third-placed man, Austrian Philipp Eng. I'm going to be more aggressive than ever at the last two rounds and I'm going to go out there and do what I have to in order to clinch the title. I don't care who wins the races, as long as I finish ahead of Jolyon! However, Stoneman admits that concentrating on his title rival is not the sole objective as the German weekend begins. I don't know the circuit, whereas a lot of other drivers have been there in F2 last year, he continued. It's frustrating as I'm always playing catch-up, which makes it that bit harder to be at the front. Ultimately we'll find out when we go out on Friday. I'm going to the circuit for a look at it today (Wednesday) but I haven't really prepared more than that. Nothing is ever handed to you in life, though, so I'm not worried. I'm only focussed on finishing ahead of Jolyon and I'm going to do anything I can to make that happen.
