Formula Two news Jokinen targeting fastest testing times 30 November 2009Johan Jokinen will be stepping into a Formula 2 cockpit next week as he joins the 2-day test session at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit. The Danish driver could make the jump to F2 for 2010 after competing in the F3 Euro Series this year.
Despite suffering a difficult campaign in the Euroseries this year, scoring no points, Jokinen is excited about his unofficial F2 debut, which will take place in Spain on Thursday. "Formula 2 gives drivers the chance to show what they can really do," the 19-year-old smiled. "Everybody is in the same team and has the same chances - and that can only be a good thing.
Johan suffered a troublesome season in the F3 Euro Series"Of course it's always fun to get into a new car but I'm taking the test very seriously. I want to win in everything I take part in and, for sure, I want to be fastest after the two days. Last year I didn't have the chance to show my true pace, so it's important to prove how fast I can be at Valencia."Johan also praises the overall running costs of F2, which are significantly less to those which faced him this season. "The money needed to compete in the F3 Euro Series is quite extreme and you have to be in a top three team to be competitive," he explained, "so I didn't really have the chance to show my true pace. F2 makes a lot of sense and, with the planned upgrades to the car, I'm sure 2010 will be even better!"
