GPUpdateMac becomes youngest Formula 2 driver14 April 2011Mikkel Mac of Denmark has become the youngest driver in the Formula 2 field, having confirmed his drive in the championship on Thursday. After first testing the Williams-built car in Portugal last December, he progresses to F2 at 18 years of age. My success in Formula Renault led to the F2 test at Portimão last year,? explains Mac. I really like the car and the championship concept and I hope to progress not just from testing to the race at Silverstone, but also I want to improve throughout the year and end up in the top of the field.? Mikkel has achieved great success with a modest budget and F2 has now provided an affordable lifeline to further his career,? adds Series Director and former Formula 1 driver Jonathan Palmer. Given his modest experience, Mikkel has really shone in testing and I expect him to be regularly in the points in his first F2 season.? The new Formula 2 season begins at Silverstone this weekend.
