GPUpdateZanella snatches pole for Race 2 15 May 2011 Christopher Zanella will start the second race of the weekend from pole position on Sunday afternoon, with the Swiss driver setting a time of 1:29.638 to beat his rivals at Magny-Cours. Alex Brundle posted an effort just 0.057 seconds slower than Zanella to secure a place on the front row, while Mihai Marinescu claimed third. Any sign of rain had disappeared overnight, with the sun doing its best to shine through during qualifying. Zanella's effort ultimately proved too difficult to beat, allowing him to start Race 2 from the same position he reached the chequered flag on a very slippery track surface yesterday afternoon. Behind the top three, Spanish drivers Miki Monrás and Ramón Piñeiro grabbed fourth and fifth, while Mirko Bortolotti starts from the final spot on the second row after losing his championship lead at the end of the first race. Jon Lancaster and Will Bratt will line-up in seventh and eighth respectively, just ahead of Thiemo Storz and Kelvin Snoeks who completed the top ten drivers. Sunday's Race 2 begins at 2pm local time (BST +1)
