Vincini considers British F3 team

Roly Vincini, the founder and former owner of Formula Renault 3.5 team P1 Motorsport, has announced plans to set up a new team in 2012, potentially to run in British F3.Vincini sold P1 to Walter Grubmuller Sr prior to running the Austrian's son in Formula Renault 3.5 in 2010, but left the outfit this summer following news of the team's move to Austria."We never advertised that Walter bought [P1], but he likes to do things his way," said Vincini. "It was an issue that Walter wanted to do a lot of stuff in Austria, that would mean too much travelling for me."Details of the FIA's cost-cutting Formula 3 regulations for 2012 and the recently revealed Dallara F312 car have attracted Vincini towards the British Formula 3 championship."The new Formula 3 engine regs come out for 2012-13 and the new car regs should make it more cost effective. Peter [Briggs, of the Formula Three Association] has got himself a reasonable championship now. The last time I put P1 back on the map was in three weeks, after a factory fire, so considering that we have a couple of months comparatively this shouldn't be too hard."While an entry into British F3 seems the most likely option for the new outfit, whose working name is Vincini Sport, the veteran engineer has not ruled out a return to FR3.5."I have got the funding to do it all and I am in the middle of doing premises," continued Vincini. "There are several options, but I am trying to find one that I like. I love World Series, it's a fantastic championship, but there's a lot of travelling. I will go to Silverstone at the weekend to see if any teams are available, but I am not sure there are. You can't just go in and take a team over when the series controls the entries."Round seven of the Formula Renault 3.5 series takes place at Silverstone this weekend.
