The DTM will run on a shortened Hockenheim lay-out when the series visits the German Grand Prix venue for the second time this season, on October 16/17.In a bid to increase the number of laps the cars complete during the race, the DTM's organisers - the ITR - have agreed with the track owners to cap the hairpin and instead introduce two right-hands turns that will take the cars into the stadium section some 400-metres earlier.Work on the track, which requires approval from the German motorsport authority DMSB, will mean the length of the lap decreases by 20%.The move is not unusual for the DTM, which also uses the Brands Hatch Indy circuit and a shortened version of the Nurburgring so that fans are guaranteed to see the cars more often.
