Honda touring car specialist JAS Motorsport is aiming to run one of the Japanese manufacturer's Acura LMP2 prototypes in Europe next year. JAS, which builds customer touring and rally cars for Honda, is looking to buy one of the remaining available Acura ARX-01b chassis. It would then run the car at the Le Mans 24 Hours and in the Le Mans Series. JAS boss Alessandro Mariani told AUTOSPORT: "We would like to go to Le Mans with Honda. It would not be a works programme, so we have to find the budget, but I have a good feeling about it."An Acura prototype programme would not be the first involvement in sportscars for a team best known for its touring car exploits with Alfa Romeo and Honda. It played a key role in the development of the works-sanctioned Ferrari 575 GTC along with N.Technology from 2003-05.
