Monteiro to rejoin ORECA at Algarve

Tiago Monteiro will rejoin ORECA to contest his home round of the Le Mans Series at the new Algarve circuit on 2 August.The Portuguese driver had made his debut with the team in the Le Mans 24 Hours last weekend, sharing a car with Stephane Ortelli and Bruno Senna. The trio had to retire after several incidents."The Le Mans experience was really positive and I'm proud and delighted that [team boss] Hugues de Chaunac has invited me to participate to the 1000km of Algarve," said Monteiro. "The Oreca 01 is a fascinating car which gives you similar sensations to an F1 car. I will know the car better in Algarve and I'm looking forward to seeing how it behaves on such a spectacular track like Portimao. The fact that it's a night race spices up the challenge and I am keen to race at night."Monteiro is free to race at Algarve as the event does not clash with the World Touring Car Championship, in which he is part of the factory SEAT line-up.
