Date published : 14 Jan 2011 - 13:48:46

Zytek's hybrid Le Mans car will race in Europe for the first time this season after Rangoni Motorsport completed a deal to enter an LMP1 Zytek 09SH in the Le Mans Series. The squad is also hoping for a Le Mans 24 Hours entry as it steps up to top-line sportscar racing from the Italian-based Superstars series.Team co-founder Luca Rangoni will be part of the driver line-up alongside former FIA GT champion Thomas Biagi and LMS regular Ferdinando Geri. The hybrid system in the 09SH is described by Zytek as a new "pure racing hybrid system" to supersede the road car technology-based hybrid system that the Corsa team's Zytek ran in the 2009 American Le Mans Series.Zytek Engineering's operations director John Manchester said: "We firmly believe that the collaboration with Rangoni Motorsport and also the introduction of the groundbreaking ZPH hybrid technology is going to produce great success over the coming seasons."
