Checa the race one Ducati hero

Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) took his ninth win of the year today and in doing so he took the total of Ducati race wins in WSBK history to 300.Early race leader Eugene Laverty was second on his Yamaha World Superbike machine, with his team-mate Marco Melandri third. Local hero Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) was fourth, while pole man and wildcard rider John Hopkins ending up fifth and well in the points on his Samsung Crescent Racing Suzuki. Sylvain Guintoli got into the top six on his Effenbert Liberty-Racing Ducati, ahead of 19th place qualifier Joan Lascorz (Kawasaki Racing Team), the top Ninja rider in the race in seventh after Mark Aitchison (Pedercini Kawasaki fell). Aprilia Alitalia rider Max Biaggi was a disappointed 11th, his team-mate Leon Camier distraught at losing a podium place as his bike suffered a problem that held him back in 15th place.
