Dovizioso determined to stay at HRC

Date published : 26 Aug 2010 - 11:40:22

Andrea Dovizioso wants to remain in the works Honda team next season, despite the Japanese manufacturer signing Casey Stoner for 2011.HRT has Dani Pedrosa, Stoner and Dovizioso under contract next year. Dovizioso's manager, Simone Battistella says Honda has proposed moving him to the Gresini team, but the Italian is determined to keep his place at HRC."I think it would make sense to carry on for another year with the works team in order to have the chance to have a real go at the title," Dovizioso told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Gresini is a fine team but I want to carry on with Honda: it's a chance I believe I deserve and that was decided in agreement with the HRC bosses."From the Barcelona race onwards, Pedrosa and Stoner have improved more than I have. But it's also true that certain rumours are annoying, it's upsetting to let so much time go by to discuss such a delicate issue."Battistella added that he believes his rider will remain at the factory team: "I expect all contractual parameters agreed with HRC get respected."We have let them know that our intention is to carry on the project started in 2009 to its end: we expect a reply as soon as possible. We've never discussed with Gresini: Honda has proposed us to race in that team in 2011, but that's not what we had agreed."
