Fabrizio fired up for Silverstone weekend

Date published : 25 Jul 2011 - 15:59:22

As the Silverstone weekend is almost upon us Michel Fabrizio can look back with mixed emotions about the two races held there last year, when he was fourth in race one but a non-finisher in race two. His best result of 2011 so far is a podium finish at Monza, but his most recent results have shown he is finding both pace and consistency, having scored fourth place in the past three races in succession. As Fabrizio remembers last year, he feels a good start will be essential for a good pair of finishes at the state-of-the-art circuit in the English Midlands. "Last year I didn't start the first practice well - I was only 13th - but improved to fifth in the remaining practices and then finished Superpole with the third best time to end on the front row of the grid," said Michel. "This year, I have not been very successful in Superpole, so I would be very happy to be on the front row of the grid at Silverstone. I know my race pace is very good, but that's not good enough when you have to start the races from the third or fourth rows of the grid because it's hard to make up the time on the leaders." After returning to race action on a four-cylinder machine in 2011 after some time spent on twin cylinder machines, Fabrizio now has a routine he has to go through at the start of each weekend. "Like many times this year, for me, the first practice will be spent learning the track on my Alstare Suzuki. Last year I was on a twin, so I will have to learn to ride the track on a four cylinder and that will take a bit of getting used to. I am getting more and more comfortable with my bike as the season goes on and the team are doing a fantastic job making the bike competitive. There is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes and at the track and for sure I will be trying my best to get some good results for myself and the team this weekend."
