The top five was completed by GO&FUN Honda Gresini's Alvaro Bautista and Yamaha Factory Racing's Valentino Rossi, who were respectively 0.466s and 0.746s down on Lorenzo's best time. Also in the top ten were LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl, Monster Yamaha Tech3's Cal Crutchlow, Ducati pair Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden and Crutchlow's teammate Bradley Smith. Yonny Hernandez got his first outing in a GP on the Ignite Pramac Racing Ducati, which he tested at Misano, finishing FP1 in 18th spot.
Meanwhile Luca Scassa came in as a substitute for Karel Abraham in the Cardion AB Motoracing team in 20th place. Damian Cudlin got his Paul Bird Motorsport MotoGP adventure off to a start by propping up the timesheet in 24th position.
