Jorge Lorenzo joined team-mate Valentino Rossi at the top of the championship after winning the Czech MotoGP.

Movistar Yamaha rider Lorenzo started from pole position in Brno and did not let the advantage slip as he won in a time of 42 minutes, 53.042 seconds.

Honda's Marc Marquez finished 4.462 seconds behind the Spaniard in second, with Italian Rossi third.

Lorenzo and Rossi are now level on 211 points, with Lorenzo having the edge as he has won five races to Rossi's three. Reigning champion Marquez is third, 52 points adrift.

Lorenzo told www.motogp.com afterwards: "I didn't need to push at the end, so this was not a perfect race, because I could have been a little bit faster.

"I had a margin, not enough to be comfortable but enough to risk less. I pushed so much at the beginning of the race and I gave my maximum to escape from Marc, who stayed behind me for a lot of laps."
