Ducati's Shane Byrne claimed a double victory in the opening round of the British Superbike Championship Showdown at Donington Park.

The four-time champion climbed back to the top of the standings after beating Leon Haslam, who settled for second, in the opening race. But Haslam crashed out at Redgate during the second race and he is now 27 points behind Byrne with five Showdown races remaining.

Honda's Dan Linfoot capitalised on Haslam's crash to finish behind Byrne while BMW's Christian Iddon crossed the line in third place. Linfoot is now just 26 points adrift of second place in the standings.
