Spain's Dani Pedrosa secures home triumph in Jerez at MotoGP's 3000th race

Dani Pedrosa eased to success at the Gran Premio Red Bull de Espana to seal victory in MotoGP's 3000th race .

The 31-year-old Spaniard started on pole and raced clear of Repsol Honda team-mate Marc Marquez to win by more than six seconds - his third career triumph in Jerez.

Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati) completed an all-Spanish podium despite having started from eighth on the grid.

Pedrosa left the drama behind him as Britain's LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow crashed out with 22 laps remaining when sitting in fourth place while Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) also ended up in the gravel while in fifth.

Seven-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi saw his lead at the top of the standings cut to two points following his 10th-placed finish, with Maverick Vinales second behind his Movistar Yamaha team-mate.

Marquez, the r eigning MotoGP world champion, is two points adrift in third place, while Pedrosa's stunning ride pushes him up to fourth overall, 10 points behind Rossi.
