Round 3 - Silverstone
Date published : 27 Jul 2009 - 09:41:23
Iconic Silverstone, the current British home of multimillion-pound F1
series has now been plummeted into chaos as practice begins with tyre
squeal, smoke and plenty of contenders testing out the gravel.
Brett loves this event as its his home circuit and not only always puts
on a good show but also comes armed with the faithful following of
family cheering him on. Practice went well with Brett feeling happy
with the set up and track conditions. Brett then flew through the top
16 battle and was pitched against old chum Declan Hicks, this was
always gonna be a tough battle with both drivers having massive respect
on and off the track for each other but after Declan had a trip through
the gravel that secured a top 4 battle for Brett. We were then drawn
against Pete Barber who knocked us out at Knockhill so we know it would
be a tough battle but Brett’s home track knowledge and the fact that
Pete was in a borrowed car due to gear box problems meant Brett made it
through to the final against Alan McCord in his V8 S15. On the practice
run it was too hard to call as both drivers looked good but on the
first run Brett ended up in the gravel at speeds of around 95MPH which
just left Alan needing to keep it on the track on his second run to win.
Fantastic day, venue, weather and of course a fantastic drive by Brett
to get on the podium for a second place shower of champagne.
