Date published : 10 Mar 2010 - 11:33:21

The FIA has confirmed that the second round of the World Touring Car Championship at Puebla will not go ahead. The governing body of world motorsport released a short statement explaining that it took the decision because of security concerns in the region. "The FIA, in agreement with promoter KSO, has decided to cancel the second event in the 2010 FIA World Touring Car Championship scheduled to take place in Puebla, Mexico, on April 11th," the statement said."The FIA's decision is based on security reports from the region and follows close consultation and guidance from OMDAI, the Mexican National Sporting Authority."The decision is thought to have been taken after concerns over visitors' personal safety. It is yet to be decided if the event will be replaced on the WTCC calendar.
