BMW cuts factory line-up to two cars

BMW is to reduce its works involvement in the World Touring Car Championship from five to two cars for the 2010 season.Three-time champion Andy Priaulx will remain with the RBM team, where he will be joined by Augusto Farfus. The Brazilian has driven for the Schnitzer team for the past three seasons, but the German squad is to focus on BMW's GT programme next year. Farfus' former team-mate Jorg Muller is also moving across to sportscar racing.The ROAL team, which ran Alex Zanardi and Sergio Hernandez this season, will no longer be part of BMW's WTCC line-up.The reduction in BMW's works programme has been rumoured for several weeks. Champion team SEAT is also expected to scale down its WTCC presence for 2010, although Chevrolet will maintain its three-car factory line-up.
