Huff on pole

Date published : 31 Jul 2010 - 18:01:23

Britain's Rob Huff will start from pole for the first time this season in the first race of Sunday's World Touring Car Championship round at Brno in the Czech Republic.

The Chevrolet Cruze driver lapped the undulating Kohoutovice circuit in a time of two minutes 10.860 seconds to beat reigning world champion Gabriele Tarquini be just under three tenths of a second.

British Touring Car champion Colin Turkington continued his excellent form since joining the series by qualifying his independent BMW in third place, with the factory car of Augusto Farfus next up in fourth.

Alain Menu was fifth in the second of the Chevrolets, with championship leader Yvan Muller back in eighth in the third Cruze.

Norbert Michelisz and Tom Coronel were sixth and seventh respectively.

It was a disastrous session for Andy Priaulx as the Guernseyman missed out on the top 10 shoot-out and will start from 11th after being caught out by a red flag during the first part of qualifying.
