The second round of the World Touring Car Championship, at Puebla in Mexico, has been cancelled. The event was scheduled to run on April 11, but local authorities informed series bosses last week that the safety of visitors could not be guaranteed due to unrest in the region. The championship took the decision to abandon the event just as this week's season opener in Curitiba kicked off. It has not yet been decided whether there will be a replacement or the calendar will reduce to 11 rounds."No decision has yet been taken about the possibility to replace the Mexican event," said series promoter Marcello Lotti. "We will think about it, evaluate the different opportunities and decide before the next meeting at Marrakech."I will decide in one month, but it could also be that we can stay with 11 events."
