Chaz Davies secures double success at Jerez

Ducati's Chaz Davies claimed his fourth victory double of the season while Jonathan Rea moved closer to retaining his World Superbikes title in Jerez.

Davies comfortably beat Kawasaki pair Tom Sykes and Rea in race one and it was a similar story on Sunday as the same three riders secured podium finishes.

Rea's second-place finish in race two means he needs only two points on the final weekend in Qatar to become the first rider to win successive championships since Carl Fogarty in 1999.

Davies finished over three seconds ahead of Sykes on Saturday and he was in control of the second race by the end of the first lap.

Rea and Sykes were forced to battle it out for second place and it was the reigning champion who took it after coming in almost six seconds behind Davies.

American Nicky Hayden just missed out on a podium finish with Honda team-mate Michael van der Mark finishing sixth behind Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli.
