Marussia reserve driver Alexander Rossi may be set to make his Formula One race debut in this weekend's inaugural Russian Grand Prix as substitute for the injured Jules Bianchi.

Frenchman Bianchi, 25, remains in a 'stable but critical' condition and in intensive care after suffering a severe head injury when he collided with a recovery vehicle at last weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.

Marussia have not made an official announcement about their plans this weekend and may choose, if they are permitted, to run only one car.

The team has registered American rookie Rossi as one of their two eligible drivers for this weekend together with Briton Max Chilton.

Rossi, 23, has twice taken part in Grands Prix with the team, participating in opening free practice in Canada and Belgium.
