Gordon Shedden retained his British Touring Car Championship title in dramatic fashion with a third-placed finish in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch.

The Scottish driver had to overcome a two-point deficit on leader Sam Tordoff heading into Sunday's third and final race and he made his move on lap seven on the exit of Clark Curve, before fending off a handful off attacks from the Team JCT600 racer - as well as a late safety car period - to hold on to third position and clinch his third crown.

Ahead of Shedden, Mat Jackson won for Motorbase Performance while Laser Tools Racing's Aiden Moffat came home in second place.

Adam Morgan's Mercedes eventually finished ahead of Tordoff and Colin Turkington won the first two races on Sunday.
